WHAT
IS
THE
SONGBIRD CREATIVE MEMBERSHIP?
Songbird Creative is a membership to nurture the art and mindful act of letter writing in older adults. As a member, you will receive a Songbird Letter once a month to awaken your self-expression, creativity, through the reflective and therapeutic qualities of storytelling. We offer membership for individuals, and group membership rates for Non-profits & For-profits. All membership options are available below.
OUR MAILING LIST
Upon initiating your membership, you will receive an email to join the Songbird Mailing List and sign the Songbird Consent Form. You will receive your first Songbird Letter in the following month's mailing. Each month of your membership, you will automatically receive a new Songbird Letter in the mail.
SONGBIRD CONSENT FORM
The Songbird Consent Form is required for your participation as a member. It is intended to open doors to artistic self-expression by providing a platform to share your creative voice with family, friends, community, and even the world! It also offers the opportunity to submit your letter to be potentially selected for future Songbird Creative publications in print, online, and digitally through the Songbird Creative Podcast, coming soon in 2022!
SONGBIRD LETTERS
AWAKENING AUTHENTICITY THROUGH WRITING, SELF-EXPRESSION, STORYTELLING, AND SPOKEN WORD.
Each month as a member, you will receive a Songbird Letter in the mail with instructions, a creative writing prompt based on the year's literary theme, along with a pre-addressed return envelope, and a Songbird Sheet to write your letter response. The creative writing prompt serves as an inspirational guide to encourage you to write about whatever comes to mind; maybe in the form of an essay, poem, or short story. You can choose to have your letter more grounded in the lived experience, or imagination; either way, this is a time to think about your senses, using descriptive words to create imagery and feeling. What does something look like, sound like, feel like, smell like?

MAILING YOUR LETTER
We encourage putting the pen on the page and love receiving handwritten letters, but you can type your letter as well, (between 250-500 words). Once complete, use the pre-addressed envelope and drop your letter in the mail before the deadline each month. Each month, you will have the option to make your letter eligible to be potentially selected, and brought to life through spoken word for an episode in the Songbird Creative podcast (listen here), as well as Songbird Creative future publications online and in print.
